Default Prop Question

Hello All

My 95 barchetta is using a SS 15 1/4" x 21 pitch prop.
It works good on top end & the RPM's seem good, max 4400 @ 50mph.
It could use a little more Dig on take off. Could I use a 4 blade prop? If so, do you stay with the same size & pitch?
thanks for any responses.

I just bought a 14.25" X 19P.. Guess I will see how it goes.. . I am definately looking for lower end grunt.. One quick question though.. Does the 4.3L EFI have a rev limiter on it? My Tach is um.. on vacation and I don't want to over rev the boat...

I guess I should have mentioned it was a 4 -blader..

i had a 14.5 x 19p and it was good for top end and maybe one person on the boat for a hole shot. i switched to a 14 x20p 4 blade.it pops out a lot better and stays on plane at lowers speeds. it is way better for me. would recomend.

What did it do to your top end speed?

Just got back from our week away with the new prop 14.25" X 19" 4 blader. Hit 50mph with one person. And it pulls the tube and skiiers great.. It did reduce the gas mileage. It also reduced the required plaining speed. Which was great for the kids..

I had the same prop as you and switched to a 20" - 4 blade SS Michigan Wheel "Apollo" which made a significant positive difference in the boat's performance. My WOT rpms are now at 4850 with a top end of 48-49 mph (speedo) but a big increase in low - mid range punch just as difran25 noted.
