Default looking for prop size shabah z202 5.0

hi i just bought a 1998 z202 with a 5.0/alpha i believe its 220hp? any way it has a stilleto stainless prop no pitch labeled on it? i am thinking the boat probably needs a 21p? any info appreciated i have had it out once but it was pretty rough so i couldn't get a good wot run.

    Hi Scott

You get the same answer that i gave to gjaxon in the thread directly below yours since you have the same boat & motor combo......

"Probably 14.5"dia x 19" or 14.25 x 21" pitch depending on what the boat was mostly used for. The 19 will give a little more low/mid range grunt while the 21 will give a slightly higher top end."

The Stiletto is a good prop. If you take the prop off you should find the diameter/pitch stamped on the backside of the hub. Your engine has a recommended range of 4400-4800 rpms at WOT so ideally that's where you want to be.

Yeah, I think a 21P would be a bit too much prop for that set-up. A good SS 19P would put you right at the rev limit and provide good hole shot, as s.a.charlie states.

I've got the 5.0L as well with an 18 pitch Solas prop. I'm not impressed. I get maybe 4400 to 4500 rpms and not a very good holeshot. The problem I'm thinking I have is the elevation. The lake I've been at is around 5,000ft. so I'm sure that is sucking some horses. I'm thinking of a 17 pitch Stainless. Any recomendations as far as makes of props? I'm thinking the Quicksilver at this point as I don't want to break the bank. Craig
