Default 4 Barrel carb conversion?

I'm toying with the idea of changing the inlet manifold and carb on my 4.3L
At the moment it's a stock 2 barrel 190hp Vortec, badged as a Volvo.

Has anyone done this?
Is it worth it?
What parts will I need?

As I'm in the UK parts will be harder to find so I'd like to get my head on straight before I head down this path.

Any advice or help greatly appreciated
Thank AndyB

I don't know to be honest. I was going to change my mercruiser 5.7 to a 4 barrel too. Amazon best prices was going to go with a edelbrock.

I'm interested in this... Have an omc 5.7 in my brothers boat. Can't imagine there would be too much to do.

It is not a ton of work as you state, simply replace the intake and the carb but it doesn't produce huge results either. I believe the 2 barrel variant of the 4.3L is rated at 190 HP while the 4 barrel is rated at 205 HP. The extra HP will only get you a few more MPH. If you want to make significantly more HP you need to change the heads and camshaft and then the carb to help it breathe and make more power.

That kinda answers my questions. Thanks HRS.

I had it in my head that with the right carb the motor would make 225hp?

But if as you say I'm only looking at +15hp its not really worth the extra $$$.

If you all ready need a new carb getting a manifold or plate is not too expensive for 15 HP. That's the way my brother was looking at it.
