Default Seats

I am going to undertake recovering the seats this winter and am looking for any tips that anyone may have, and I have several questions. Has anyone done this themselves before? Where did you buy the supplies; vinyl, foam padding, ect? Can you sew most vinyl on a regular sewing machine? I have done some interior work before but mainly on aircraft. I plan on using monel staples so they don't rust and I already have some UV resistant thread. Thanks in advance!

I did the seats and panels in my VIP boat which I had before my Mariah.
Regular sewing machine ain't gonna cut it. Need something that will sew heavy materials. Your going to be stacking multiple layers along with piping or edging on a lot of the project. I paid right at 300.00 for the machine I used and it was a challenge with some material.
I used stainless steel staples on my project , but I see no reason why the monel staples won't work also.
Below is a link to the company I used for almost all of my materials.
I will say this.........it is not a easy job. But very doable if you take your time and don't rush.

Ok! My wife has a Janome machine that I am going to try and use but I plan on trying to keep the sewing down to a minimum! Just the piping along the sides of the seats to make a nicer edge. We have sewn 5 and 6 layers of denim with it and it handles like a champ. If it doesn't work I have a friend that has an upholstery machine is that I might try to use. I am not going to try anything fancy just recovering with some plain white vinyl.

Sounds like that machine will work fine for ya jet.
One thing I learned was to make sure that the stitching wasn't too tight.
Good luck and shoot us some pics of the progress.

THESE guys have material that matches my Diablo color to the tee.
They will send you samples also.
Might be worth a shot for color match.
