I am new to the site, as I just purchased a 1990 Mariah 2000XL. It has a 5.0 Mercruiser Engine with the Alpha One drive. The boat has been in storage for several years. We took it for a test drive last weekend and after a few minutes of cranking, it finally started. The boat ran pretty good considering the amount of time it's been sitting. A couple of questions for the experts out there:
1) Been reading a lot about changing the impeller. Does anyone have a step by step guide on how to accomplish this. I'd consider myself relatively handy.
2) Would anyone recommend servicing the u-joints right away as well?
3) Any other maintenance that somebody would recommend that may not seem obvious?

Thanks for any help that is given. This site appears to be very informative and useful tool. Once I start using the boat, hopefully I can offer some advice back.
