I have a 1995 talari 240z I bought an aftermarket standup bimini top and I'm not sure how to mount it. I see that most boats have the main mount on the side window rail but this does not seem very sturdy to me. Any suggestions? Also the main brackets are hinged so that the top will sway back and forth, is this good or not? I might be able to put the main mounts outside the sidewindow.

I would suggest mounting outside the side window if your mounting poles are long enough. On the window frame would subject it to a lot of force that I wouldn't feel comfortable about... knowing the difficulties and prices of replacement glass for original Mariahs!!
