I had to go and look and I have 761 hrs. on my 93 1900Z! This is the fourth summer I've had it and it still runs awesome. As far as I know it still has the original4.3 lx and Alpha 1 outdrive but after the first summer I had to put 3 grand into the out drive ( lack of maint. from previous owner) but it was well worth it. Love My Mariah!!:D

I just went over the 777 mark this year tuning it up. I think the guy before me left the key on and idled it a lot for the stereo. I was worried buying it with 700+ last year but it runs great. Anyone know what to look out for when the hours get up there? Is there a programmer you can use to see the actual hours on the PCM computer.

If it's fuel injected, the # of hours is stored in the computer and can be read out by a mercury service person.

I'm a little suspect of my # of hours, as my hour meter also runs with the key in the accessory position (engine off). Anytime you are sitting and chillin with the stereo, the meter is running...

Compression test would be one way of determining how "tired" the engine is.

I guess I don't get the importance of the number of hours on an engine other than knowing maintenance intervals, which are usually done annually on a boat.
My truck is a 2003. I drive it to work 10 miles a day. It has 2,000 hrs on it. It runs perfect and I expect to get many more years of use out of it. 200 or 300 hrs on a boat engine seem insignificant if the engine is properly cared for.:wink_thumbup:

233 for a 1990 2000xl. Had 227 on it a few weeks ago before we purchased the boat. She will see alot more this summer.

:)I bought my 1993 240Z with 800 hours on it. Have put 25 hours on it this summer. As someone else mentioned, if igintion left on hour meter keeps running even if the engine is not running. Not sure if true hours or not but would fall in line with average hours (approx. 50/yr) for a 16 year old boat. Looks great and runs great!

1997 198Z Shabah 5.7 EFI, had 180 hrs when I got it last June and has 205 now.

Not sure anyone would log a lot of hours just from turning on the ignition as the overheat alarm goes off when the key is left on for so many seconds and the engine is not running. Would drive you crazy!:mad:

493 hours on my 2000 Shabah 222. Let's do another post at the end of this boating season to see who put the most hours on their boat this year.

Got 268 hours on mine. Of course the gauge didn't work part of 1994 cause it wasn't hooked up. Got the dealer to fix it after the season was over and had it in for servicing.

So, I figure she's got at least 300 on her.

Just bought my 95 Shabah z 202 with 434 hours Last Thursday and added 6 this past weekend. Then the engine blew:mad:. Now it sits at the dealer wiating for a new one.

You dug hard to find this thread jj! :)
To answer your question....... it is a simple 2" hole for the gauge and a ground and power wire hookup to "key on" only tap. Usually at ignition switch or back at starter solenoid "run" post.

I was reading on another site where it's activate when the oil pressure gauge is working (meaning the engine is actually running)

That ain't a bad idea Oregon. I think the gauge requires at least 6v to operate. Have you seen this actually? Gotta look into that. Where did you run across this?

'93 240Z w/960 hours. If the key gets left on the meter keeps rolling. My single deep cycle starting battery last about 25 hours when key is left on!:rolling_laugh:

1995 z202 I just bought it last fall and it has 52 hrs.
not a good thing tho..... I am spending alot of money to get her going again.

Our 94 had 157 hours on the meter when we bought it last summer. Showing 170 hrs now and still looks and runs like new.
