Default looking to buy 1995 210 talari

I have been looking at a 210 1995 talari.
great condition but it has the 4.3 v6.
Low hours and runs great.
Seems slow to come out of the hole.
I know it has a 5 blade prop not sure of pitch.
does not have a hydrofoil.
This is THE nicest boat I have seen and I have been looking a lot.
Hate to pass on this one.

Any suggestions
Thanks in advance.

20 ft boat and 4.3 v6 is it just under powered?

Depending on what V6 you have?
You've still got 190<225 hp. Plenty for a 20' boat.
In fact, when you take power to weight into it you're probably better off with the 4.3 V6 than the 5.0 V8. You'd need the 5.7 to see any real gains.
With the Five blade it should jump out of the hole.....
2 possible problems with that, either you are way over pitched or the motor isn't putting out

    Oh don't fit a hydrofoil
You'll have the "Old Guard" down on you in a flash

Do a forum search on smart tabs.

    In 1995, the 4.3 with a 2bbl was rated at 160HP and 180 with the 4bbl. A 21 foot Talari is a lot of boat for a 6 banger.

I love the look of the 95 Talari 210, especially in the Z package. I would have one if I had a bigger garage!

Speed is fine. Over pitched? How do I know?
Runs like a top. It does not jump out of the hole.
I know he changed the prop to a 5 blade just not sure of the pitch
What was std factory and what should I look for to gain
    Takeoff?
    Thanks

Did you notice the rpm at wide open throttle? That will tell you a lot. A lower pitch prop will definitely help. There should be numbers stamped on the prop that will give the pitch. I would add the smart tabs, then decide if you need to pitch down. Smart tabs will make a big difference on your hole shot.

Despite what AndyB thinks (he's on the wrong side of the big pond and they drive on the wrong side of the road), you're asking a lot of that 4.3 to push a 21' boat with any authority. It will be decent on fuel though compared to the 5.7L

If you want to learn the basics about props & prop selection, there are a couple of STICKYS at the top of the Prop Forum that will help you out. And yes, those Smart Tabs should really help that boat out with its planing ability.

If you stick a hydrofoil on that boat you can go join the Bayliner club.

Smart Tabs are a form of trim tabs but different. Most trim tabs require hydraulic or electric remote controls to raise and lower them. The benefit to this is having precise control of each tab but at a significant cost in $$$. Smart Tabs 'self-adjust' with spring loaded actuator arms and are designed for specific sizes/weights of boats generally up to about 26', although i believe we have one member with them installed on his Z302. You lose the precise remote control (although they are manually adjustable) but they still work quite well on our boats and at far less $$. A pair costs approx $125-$150 and takes about 30-45 mins to self install. Do a site search here for Smart Tabs and you will find a number of threads discussing their benefits.
