Default '96 180 shabah ski locker holding water

Ok, opened ski locker after thunderstorm, locker is full of water. There is a black carpet style fabric that is glued down, where the heck is the drain hole for it. Logic says it should be towards the stern in the locker. Before I go ripping that carpet out, am I missing something. Boat is trailered up, drain plug out at back, no drainage of water at all.

Thanks

Never mind, found it...used some thick gauge wire and fed it through where I thought the hole would be, hey presto, no more water....one thing I'd like to know though is "is the ski locker supposed to be lined with that carpet/fabric?

My 2001 Diablo has the black carpet type lining - and my ski locker also had that happen once..

I made the mistake of leaving my drain plug in over the winter a few years ago (I was told it would keep mice out)- I "thought" my cover was completely water proof - however I randomly uncovered the boat to find out it wasn't. It was around 45-50 degree's that day and when I jumped in the boat I heard water splashing around inside the engine compartment. When I opened it up I was shocked to find that water was completely backed up all around the bottom of the engine and the locker was full. To make matters worse all that water mixed with whatever was in the bottom of the hull and coated everything in an oily mess. I had to pull the boat around to my hose and spent the rest of the day cleaning the hull and compartment out with a mixture of dawn dish soap and bleach. I finally got it cleaned up and looking new again.. but I had to run to the store and buy 3-4 of the buckets of damprid.

I can only imagine what passerby's thought. It looked like I was getting the boat ready for the water lol.. we even had some snow in our yard that day. I also went and bought a tarp that same day.

I now keep it covered with the factory cover (which I coated a bunch of times with 303 waterproofing spray) and a billboard from Billboard Tarps, Tarps, Discount Tarps, Used Billboard Vinyl, Hay Tarps, Pond Liners -- Billboard Tarp Warehouse | Welcome. These billboards are awesome. I bought one that is black on the backside.... and even though it's was a small one.. it was still so big I had to cut it down. It's actually big enough that I am able to cover the complete boat and trailer.. all the way around lol.

Glad you got it draining! Nothing worse than wet dock ropes.. or whatever you might be storing there.

They have that carpeting to keep things from rattling around.

That carpeting is going in the next couple of weeks...talk about a water trap. I'm going to get a rubber stopper, place it in the drain hole, then Rhino Liner that compartmen and once its dried, remove the stopper, no more wet carpet.

I just launched my '93 Diablo this past weekend and yes, I have the same water logged black carpet as well. I sponged out as much as I could, but I can't seem to get it to drain either.

If you Rhino line the ski locker, would it be possible to document your progress and post up a "How-To"?

I'm tempted to pull that carpet as well. If i leave my ski locker closed for only a few minutes, I get a strong fuel/oil smell upon reopening it. When i'm not around during the week, I just leave it propped open and let it air out a bit.

I'm interested in this idea as well. I think some type of rubber coating would be a great idea. I have to keep mine propped open as well - and when it does get wet - it always has the oily/fuel smell - even after cleaning it really well.
