Also, if you do a new project, feel free to do a writeup to share with the rest of the board! Check out the "How To's" section to see how they're done! :wink_thumbup: |

I've been in contact with a mechanic who used to work at Soutwater Marine. If fact he remembers doing the pre delivery inspection on my boat. He's going to try and find out some info for me :wink_thumbup: I also asked him to pass on your regards to David Allen |

I've never heard back from David since i sent him an email back in January. Hopefully they didn't go under but i guess all things come to an end sooner or later. :( |

I know what you mean though, He knew the boats name, what motor/drive package it had and the name of guy who originally ordered it. So far he's managed to tell me that it was imported with another 180 in the same crate (one on top of another), hence the reason the screen wasn't fitted at the factory. He has said that he will try and dig out for me a 2001 sales brochure and the original sales paper work for my boat. |

Re: My Diablo's got a fat ass!
Andy b - I haven't been on the forum in a long time (I usually just skim through and post on the Facebook page). I have to say that I love everything you have done to your boat. I also own a 2001 Diablo 180 (although mine is a 3.0L Merc). I wish our boat had the same seating arrangement as yours. I also have to admit that I am jealous that you have the complete canvas package. I have the convertible top, but do not have the sides/back/and front sections. I'd also love to have the tilt steering wheel. Out of curiousity, what is the switch to the left of your steering wheel for? Does it have the factory hour meter and depth gauge in the dash?
Lastly - Did you make those Diablo decals? They are awesome and I'd love to have one myself. I also agree with what you said about the rear louvers being plastic. I have one that has a small crack in it, and I would like to replace it with a stainless set. Where did you find yours? Keep the posts coming - I will be sure to follow this thread... as I have only seen a few 180's and never one with the 4.3 Volvo Kind regards, Nick |

as for the vents they were purchased through a marine wholesaler over here (UK) but they must be available over there. I’ve been very lucky with my boat, although I was looking for a while before this one almost fell into my lap. I think that because Mariah’s are quite rare over here the ones that were shipped over were quite well specked. Even though the 180 Diablo was the entry level boat in the range mine was fitted with thing like adjustable steering wheel/depth sounder/ midship cleats and the 4.3lt Volvo engine/leg setup The only thing I still want to add is the bow rails and maybe an open fronted bimini top. Not instead of the screen fitted one, but aswell for choice And many thanks for your great coments, it’s a great boat (But I wouldn’t say no to a bigger one) |

Re: My Diablo's got a fat ass!
I would also like to add a bimini - the convertible top is great if it's slightly rainy.. or to cut the wind for our kids.. but it's not as friendly for anyone taller like myself lol. If I ever have sides etc. built to enclose ours, I would probably have the shop make some clear extensions for between the windshield and bottom edge of the convertible top.. to make it higher and give myself a little more visibility.
Keep the posts and pictures coming! It's nice to see other small Mariah's on here (although I wouldn't say no to a bigger one in the future either) lol. |
Re: My Diablo's got a fat ass!
Hi Andy,
I just bought a 1999 182 and the vents on my boat are plastic and not particularly nice looking. where did you get your ones from? also have a problem with water running down the cover and straight in to the vents. But that's another story. might see you on the Solent this summer. |
Re: My Diablo's got a fat ass!
hi Lewy,
i'm in the UK so where I got the vents probably won't help you, but they are readily available from most online boating suppliers. as for the vents taking in water? they did until i added a couple of flaps to the bottom of my cover so that they were covered if that makes sense. I also store my boat with a big (Cheap eBay) all over cover on top of my factory covers. this keeps both the boat and my expensive canvases clean and dry. :wink_thumbup: |
