Default Considering 202 need opinions

Hello all, I am currently considering buying 1 of 2 202's. One is a 98 and the other is a 99, I've added the links to them below. I was wondering what everyones thoughts are on these with the 5.0L Alpha One setup. Also, which you think might be the better buy in the long run.

The last 5.0 I had was in an 89 Mark Twain so I'm sure that the power/ride is much different on these and way different then the pontoon that I'm used to. The boat will be used to pull tubes and skiers and to cruise around on about a 1300 acre lake mainly. I appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.

MUST GO THIS WEEK!
- I'm going to call and see if I can get better pictures of this one since I live near St. Louis and its around 3 hours away.

    either?
99 is newer and less $$$$$. I had a Z200 with the 5.7 2 barrel alpha one. Pulled tubes and skis perfect and topped out around 50 mph, so you will be close to that. I would look at the interior for tears and rips. whichever looks cleanest will indicate something? the 99 comes with accessories as well. Also take into consideration what covers and tops are included as that can add up big time as well.

Just based on the pics i see, i would be a little concerned about the '99 vendor's comment that 'the interior is in good shape for a boat this age' and then he doesn't include any interior photos?
It just sounds like he doesnt want to scare off any potential buyers by including a photo....

Both boats need a visit. Ask for maintenance records, check the interior (as per mikesnowman's comment), covers & tops are $$, is the engine area & bilge clean? and above all, get them on the water!

I figured that at the price and age that whichever was better taken care would be the one that I would go with. I just wanted to ask the people with experience for their opinions. I just found these this morning so I haven't had a chance to dig to much into them, but didn't want to waste my time with something that was either overpriced, underpowered, etc....

Mikeyt, the 99 gave me the same feeling. Thats why I'm going to call and ask for more pics and just talk to the guy selling it before I even bother driving to look at it. At least the 98 is close enough that it wouldn't really be a waste if I go look at it and it doesn't turn out to be worth it.

My '98 looks identical to that one except for the docking lights. I paid 10 for it a couple of years ago - it had 170 hours on it. It did have a bimini top on it but I had covers made for it. It has been a great boat. Good luck!

Thumbs up Re: Considering 202 need opinions

I have a 2001 Z-202 and love it. It's a very solid boat, easy to see out of even while seated at the wheel. And, not that I cared about this when I bought it, but it's a rocket with the fuel injected 5.0L. I bought a used stainless prop for it and keep the aluminum for a backup. I can hit about 53-54mph with the aluminum and 57 with the stainless.
We use the boat as a family boat, pulling tubes all day long & tying up with friends. There aren't many of their boats I like better than this one. And for its size, there are none! This is the best 20' boat I've been around.
For your reference: I bought it 2-years back in Osage Beach, MO, with a tandem axle Prestige, and full cover, 105-hours, for $14,500
    Good Luck
