Actually that boat is mislabeled, as it's a Z302 not a Z308.
The Z308 Wolfgang owns has twin 5.0L v8s. When I took my boat in for winterization, they informed me my flappers had either been removed, or had just destroyed themselves, as the dealer told me, "They just weren't there".
If your boat is due to come out of the water, it is a job that you could probably do, however it'd be very cramped. The flappers sit on top of the Y connector for the exhaust. The parts for my 7.4L MPI were $40. However they charged me $200 of labor to install them. After looking at the Mercruiser diagram, I could have done it myself. I'll look and see if I can find the diagram for your engines and then you can figure out if it's something you're willing to tackle by yourself.
