I offered $7,500 for a 1994 Z200 Talari being sold on consignment, one question now that they were preparing it for a sea demo.

1) He had to bring it to a mechanic as the engine wouldn't turn over. they are trying to "soak" the pistons and cylinders in oil to allow it to start. it hasn't been run in 2 years. do you think this is dangerous even if the motor gets started?

"Dangerous"?? Not sure what you mean by that. But...i think that $7500 was high for that boat sold on consignment and it wouldn't start right up.

That is a 3000.00 boat at the max. Books at 5200.00 in average running order here where I am , and I think Colorado is a little high. Cylinders are scored for sure, rings are either going to be froze up or broke , it'll never last. You can't push it if it quits
Apparently it wasn't winterized properly or not at all. There is going to be all kinds of little gremlins come out.
Unless you want to do a project , stay far far away. In my opinion , look for another Mariah that was better taken care of.

Just to give you a little insight, "soaking" the pistons is done because when an engine hasn't been run in a long time, the oil basically drains down and stops preventing rust.... then the piston rings rust to the cylinder walls..... They spray penetrating oil in the spark plug holes to dissolve the rust, but the walls and rings will still be scored.... It will probably start and run, but it's not going to last very long afterwards.
