The bilge pump should be a secondary line of defense.
How did she take on so much water she went down?
A few years ago I negelected to go to the inlaws cottage for a few months and went up late November to close the cottage and pull my 16 foot Doral.
Got up late at night to find her bouncing off the bottom...at leat the upper cylinder of the 3 banger Johnny was above water.
I learned much from that...had to do a full rebuild, rewire and ran power to the dock so I could have a battery maintaner.

Wow I would be scared to try to fire it up. I assume you drained fuel and oil? You are lucky the dash didn't go under. Hope you get it back to showroom condition.

Engines are pretty tough, if you catch the water fast enough.... as are electrical components. You may end up changing a few things earlier than you should have due to the moisture, but I'm glad she's running! Sounds like you got really lucky!

That's great news! Keep us posted. Did the insurance give enough to cover buying it back, repairing it and making any upgrades?

    Sorry to hear that.

Contact me and I can give you all the details.

I splashed mine last weekend for the first time in 2 years and can tell you it is alot of work to redo a boat but well worth it when you get as many compliments as I did.

I had a Starcraft that went under for a day or so due to bilge issues. Most important thing is to Get the water out of the motor and running gear. Change the oil(s)l MANY times. You will probably lose the starter and alternator-I lost mine (they both worked for a while after). Then you might deal with MANY electrical gremlins. After 3 years and 7 oil changes, complete tune-up my Starcraft ran like new, but trim, lighting, other electronics failed due to wiring deterioration many times. It is terrible- Automatic bilge is the best thing that boat money one can ever buy.
