Default Starter Problems

Th starter went out on my portside engine in our Z308. We replaced it last weekend, and it just turns the engine over without firing up. I checked and tested the fuses, but still no luck. It has 4.3EFI mercruisers in it. Any ideas?
Thanks

    Thumbs up Re: Starter Problems

Look and see if the engine has a slave solenoid, mounted before the main starter solenoid. It's a cheap part and is prone to go out. Usually, when it starts to go bad, you turn the key and get nothing but a quiet "click" or nothing at all, so I'm not sure if that's your problem. When you find it, you can jumper across the two large posts on the solenoid with the key in the run position and the starter should fire. I'd check all of your battery and starter connections as well, and make sure your battery is fully charged. Good luck!

Just a hunch is it turning over at normal speed to start? If so I would check you may have disconnected the wire to power your coil I have seen a few times on cars just a thought.
