I have been cursing the same problem since the boat was new. Seems the only way to know for sure you are full is by seeing the fuel coming out the vent. This fuel line vent whistle has been on my 'to do' list for years. Perhaps this winter i will finally get around to installing one. From what i've heard they are very effective and once you install one of these you will never overflow again. The whistle is quite load while the tank is filling and will stop once the fuel reaches the whistle in the overflow/vent line before it spills out the vent. I've seen them before at boating outlet sites such as West Marine and the like but i believe this is the site of the actual manufacturer/distributer:
Green Marine Fuel Whistle
Anyone here have one of these installed?

    mosky,

Thank you for your response and for the link.

I did not know that anyone was making these for boats. I'll look into one.

Although still annoying, I would be happy to have the fuel come out of my fuel vent. Mine overflows the fill fixture without any other warning.
