Cabin door on 95 Davanti
1995 Mariah Z 225 Davanti
I'm kinda lost here s to where to start on my cabin door. The owner I bought
it from must have broken the top part and then tossed it. The bottom part of
the door looks to be working fine.
Can anyone that has this 3 piece door help me out with some detailed pics ?
I would like to come up with a replacement, but I have NO clue where to
start or even what I need to put it all back together.. I'm going to take
some pics of my own later and post.. Thanks for any help at all...

Re: Cabin door on 95 Davanti
I can't help with any pics, but you should be able to make a new piece if you can't find a new one. I'd start by making a cardboard template and work forward from there. The replacement piece could be made out of plexi, aluminum or even 1/4" MDF wrapped in fiberglass. Just a few ideas...

I agree, and was thinking along the same line.. I want to make it as close to an original as possable and thought pics would be a good place to start.. There is a person at the lake selling his 94 Davanti, and it has the same door as mine. I might break down and shoot him an email to see if I can come over and take photos of it myself.. There seems to also have been a hing on the top so I need to better understand how that fits into place...

Re: Cabin door on 95 Davanti
You may get lucky and be able to get a part number and/or manufacturer name off of his, if it's not a part Mariah made in house.

Re: Cabin door on 95 Davanti
Hi dlowings,
I agree with AirNavy too, I believe the door parts were made in-house by Mariah, therefore it's going to be next to impossible to locate a new one, but looking at your picture, it appears to be a relatively flat piece of smoked Plexiglas with a small lip at one end and a hinge at the other so replicating it should be straight forward.
Since you stated you know where an existing door is, your idea of contacting him to get access to it is a great place to start. If your able to get to the door, bring some construction paper or thin cardboard (like what they use for beer cartons or shoe boxes), a ruler and masking tape along so you can create a template directly from the original.
As for the hinge, it's so you can swing this piece upward for additional headroom when entering or exiting the cuddy and if I'm right, the lip closes over the bi-fold doors to help keep them closed and seal out the elements.
Who knows, he may already be a member, but if not, go ahead and refer him to the club.
Good luck and keep us posted,
WetWilly

Re: Cabin door on 95 Davanti
Well bummer... The guy didn't want to help out so I thought I would update the thread.. If anyone knows of door like this could they shoot me a message and maybe help me out with some good pics and measurements.. I know I could FAB something that work right now, but my goal is to have it as close to the original as possable...
Thanks.

Re: Cabin door on 95 Davanti
Greetings,
I'm new here to this forum. However I DO have a '94 Davanti that has that door that you're talking about.
Please PM me and I will see if I can locate some pics of the door for you. If not, then perhaps when it stops snowing out my way I can go onboard and snap a few pics for you.
