Default Alpha One Gearing

How do I find out what the gearing for my 1990 XL 2000 is? I have a 5.7L (260HP) Mercruiser with the Alfa One drive. I can not find a tag or sticker any where that gives me the gear ratio.

Thanks

RVS

    Ok,

I re-read an answer I had to the same quesiton awhile ago. On the port side of my outdrive, on the top of the Mercruiser label is stamped 1 50 R. Am I reading this correctly for a gearing of 1:1.5 and a right hand prop?

    Thanks

Is your unit a Gen II drive? If so then I believe you are reading it correctly. I have the same stamp and the same engine/drive combination. Do you know if the drive is original?

I had to purchase a new water impeller kit for my sterndrive, and to find out I have a Mercuiser Alpha One SS. I'm not sure what the diffrence is between an SS, Gen 1, and Gen 2 Alpha unit. Origially they gave me a kit for a Gen 1, and the bottom housing of the water pump was completely diffrent and would not fit.

Anyone know what a SS is? The gearing for the SS's was either 1:1.5 or 1:1.3 something.

    Thanks
