from reverse to stall?? help

Default from reverse to stall?? help

after a day on the water i go back to my slip. when i back in reverse to get in the slip and then put it in nutral it stalls right away. it does it just about every time im going slow in reverse then to nut. what do you think could be the problem.

    hmmm not sure. I know mine 'acts' like its going to stall when your at the point when your not in any gear, but not in neutral. It acts like its gonna stall but then comes right back to idle. Not sure!!

    Hi difran25,

    Assuming that your idle mix and speed are adjusted properly, I would say it might be the shift cutout switch is out of adjustment. The switch, located on the shift plate that's attached to the starboard exhaust, temporary kills the motor to unload the gears and shift fork when you go from from neutral to forward or reverse. Also make sure the shift cables are adjusted properly first.

    You can find this information in the Alpha Service Manual, section 2 (REMOVAL, INSTALLATION AND ADJUSTMENT) beginning on page 2A-13 for the shift cable adjustment and 2A-17 for the switch.
