Default Hot water flush

I'm not sure where to post this question so I will ask it here. I live in Utah and run my boat in multiple lakes. There is a lot of concern about quagga and zebra mussel infestation in our lakes and the state is taking a lot of preventative steps which is good. The step they want boaters to take is to drain the engine block and manifold and water pumps and then leave dry for 7 days. They are asking boaters to be honest so this probably isn't going to work.

This doesn't work for me because I use my boat about every 2 to 3 days. I know that 140 degree water will kill the mussels so I was wondering about flushing my boat with hot water heater using earmuffs and a hose going to my water heater in my house. My question is does anyone know if that will damage my impeller or have any adverse affects on my raw water intake?

thanks,

That sounds like a great deal of work to go through. Here in Colorado they inspect in and out of the water and ask you to pump the bilge, lower the outdrive and pull the plug.

Wow, we're starting to have to deal with the Zebra Mussels out here now and our inspection is like what bdbyrnes said.

As for the hot water damaging the impeller and raw water intake, it shouldn't affect the intake at all, but I don't know about the impeller, so I recommend you contact Mercruiser for the straight answer.
