Default Need help

Hi guys need some help. Just changed my impeller and started it today for the first time this year. My alarm will not shut off . The water temp is good 175. Is there a alarm for the lower oil unit? I changed the oil in the lower unit I am sure that it is full. Is the alarm for anything else but water temp?

Thanks Mark

Yep, there's an alarm for the lower unit oil. The sensor is built in the plastic reservoir mounted on the engine. That was actually the cause of my alarm fiasco last year. The alarm would beep every 3 seconds. It was a $50 part, but cost over $700 in diagnostic fees and return service visits to find out the problem.

The alarm system usually has 3 sensors.
    1. Engine Oil Pressure
    2. Water Temp
    3. Lower Unit Oil

If you wanted to test things yourself, the sensors are usually tan colored wires with a blue stripe.

Well I feel like a idiot. The drive reservoir will drain out when you pull the lower unit. So I put in the gear lube up to the full line on the reservoir and started it up NO ALARM. So the boat goes into the water on Saturday.

No worries Mark, we all make these kind of mistakes. It's a learning experience, right?

Hi Chris, I have had the exact same problem with my motor.
I got it back from the mechanic and it was beeping at all sorts of different revs and speeds. I checked all the oils and they were fine.
You mentioned the lower unit oil - is that the one reservoir that is seperate to the motor?
If you could perhaps supply some photos of which one it is I would greatly appreciate it.

Great Mark, thanks for the fast reply. That alarm is a real pain, especially when you just know there shouldnt be anything wrong.
