Lightbulb Fuse problem

Fuse blew after i turned every thing on. Killed everything except trim so I was able to get it out of water. Started looking and this is what I found. A 20 amp fuse on the fuse block burned into. But now I am wondering why I lost everything. The fuse block was fed through the 20 amp fuse on the block itself. That didn't make sense to me. I did some more trouble shooting and found that the wire that is suppose to feed the fuse box was going to the ignition switch. So i dig some more and find that both these red wires go to a common plug with a black ground wire. The two reds were switched apparently from factory. Switch two wires proper way. don't know if anyone keeps blowing fuses or not but if so its worth checking.

I was installing a new stereo, everything worked one second, the next all the buttons stopped working and only the trim worked. I check the fuses at the wheel and a 15 amp was blown, replaced it, still nothing worked, I also check all the fuses at the battery off switch... I have the wiring diagram, not doing me much good though, anyone have any ideas??

Unplugged every single thing I could, found a loose power cable...!

Not sure but see if you have a circuit breaker at the engine. If that's ok I would make sure I didn't have another fuse block some where. I had two of them behind the shifter. With a volt meter I would check to see if I had 12 volts coming in to the fuse block. If not you will have to work your way backwards until you find the 12 volts. Is your lights or anything working? My way of thinking was a radio shouldn't kill things like you lights. That could be dangerous at night. Thats why I started looking deeper into my problem and finally found the real problem. Hope this helps some.

Yeah, I totally hear you...I would think there would be some kind of redundancy built into the electrical system.
