Default Under water lights?

I'm thinking about buying and installing a set of under water lights. I'm just not crazy about drilling holes in my transome and not sure if they seal good so NO leaks. Has any one done this and are there any one brand better than the other? I might be crazy but would cool at night.

If you want true underwater lights, they're expensive as hell. Plus they're pretty large, you'll usually end up drilling about a 1.5" or larger diameter hole through your hull, which is WAY intimidating. Check out some of them here at this site:

If you don't want to actually illuminate under the water, but want to give off "ambient light", I've seen some people put LED's or fluorescent tubes underneath the swim platforms (above the outdrive, above the waterline). It looks pretty good, is a bit more affordable, and isn't as tough of an install since it's above the waterline!

I was at the Seattle boat show and saw these cool transom lights that install in the drain plug fitting. Thought you may like to see them. They are not worth the 350 bucks to me, but much better than drilling through the hull.

They are called Liquid Lite, and are extremely bright and easy to install.

The style that i am watching are the LED light sets that mount to the trim tabs. (Do a search for trim tab lights) There are lots of options these days and the price point seems to be dropping quickly. The trim tabs seem like an obvious place to mount these below the waterline.
