Default my graphics stripes keep oxidizing

Hey guys,

I have a 1999 Z258 Shabah with the 7.4l bravo III. I've owned it since 2001. my problem is every year I have a big oxidation problem. I'm in the Finger Lakes region of NY. (Cayuga Lake) and every other week I have to buff out the large stripe (burgandy) on the top of my graphics package. I can't tell if the stripe is painted on the boat or its the actual gel coat. I've been told of many different things to do for this problem from painting with a clear coat to different kinds of waxes. What is the best way to eliminate this problem and keep the paint looking newer and not that white haze that it always gets.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Mike

Mike, the burgandy stripe is actually in the gelcoat. There are different waxes and treatments you can use. I've had good luck with Meguiars Fiberglass Restoration Kit. 3 part polish and wax. However there's some products such as Poliglow and Vertglass, that are specially made for colored gelcoats. I've seen very good results with them.

I wouldn't paint any kind of clearcoat on.

    hope this helps!

Thanks for the Info, I'll try these. Do you know which one last the longest.

Poliglow and Vertglass are supposed last a while, as they're really not waxes, they're some kind of polymer.

In the past I only used Meguiars products.

Last summer, I used vertglass on my catamaran. I was quite impressed with the results. I'll have to get back to you on how long the finish lasts, but I was impressed with the initial shine and how well the finish held up through the summer and fall. Still looked great when I tucked it in the storage unit a couple of weeks ago.
