Default Looking to purchase 18' 98 Shabah

New to boating and looking to purchase a 98 18' Mariah Shabah

Here are a few things listed in the ad -

- 190 HP Mercruiser-4.3 liter
- new trailer tires
- cd
- wake tower + racks
- docking lights
- 2 props (3,4 bld)
- rear swim deck
- depth gauge
- 220 hours
- seats 7-8
- ski/wakeboarding gear. HO slamon is brand new, never touched water
- wetsuits and jackets

Is $12,000 a good price for this boat? Are there any questions that I may want to ask him when I go take this for a test drive this weekend? Any questions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Seems a little high, however I'm not familiar with prices of Mariahs with towers and wakeboarding gear. Hopefully one of our watersports gurus will chime in and be able to offer more advice.

I got mine for 7,900.00 last year with 45 hrs and no tower & docking lights. One just sold on ebay for 8,100.00 1999 ebay # 230265290248.There is one on ebay now for 9,800.00 with bin 2001 with 54 hs on it. I think this guy is just a bit high on his price but if you like it go for it mariah is a great boat. GOOD LUCK

Call me a nut but I don't see the wake board tower. Does it come with the boat or on the boat installed. The price does seem a little on the high side in my area. I bought a 20 foot Shabah last yr in great shape with knee boards and skis and jackets 2 props ship to shore radio and cd player. The trailer was brand new, came with winter covers and travel covers. all in tip top shape custom graphics and the lot. 7000 flat. May want to talk about the money.

I just bought my '99 Z202 with a 5.7L V8 for 11.5k, so I think that this price is too high.

Seems that 9-10k would be reasonable. The problem with all of the "goodies" is that they may not be the ones that YOU want, so they end up not being used.

Most of that stuff can be picked up at the end of every season from Craigslist or local boating shops for a fraction of the original purchase price.

With that said, go for it if the boat moves you, Mariah made a great boat.

Hmm, one item to ask the fellow is to see any service / repair invoices. I keep any and all invoices in relation to my Diablo. Don't be afraid to ask questions that seem completely stupid. If they can answer them, you got your answer. Ask whatever questions you want to about anything and everything. Remember, this fellow is looking to sell his boat to you.

Are there any rips or tears in the upholstery? Has it been cared for? How is the gel coat? Condition of the tarps?

Do you think you or your family would consider using this so called "invisible" wake board tower? If not, then they really isnt any need to have the excessive "other peoples junk" lying around to clutter up your cottage/vehicle.

By the sounds of the replies from the other members, time to break out your hagglin' skills and talk him/her down in price.

From the small photos you posted, it does appear to be a nice well kept boat and could wind up being a decent purchase if the price is lowered.

    Keep us posted!

I think that may acutally be a 1999 Shabah. From the first pic it appears the side widows have a slight upward curve to them as they go back towards the transom. 1998 model 180's had perfectly straight side widows, no curve.
