Default Ouch!!!!

Hi all-4th of July was pretty hard on my other woman-I was dropping off some family members at a dock on West Okoboji and I gouged the right front above the rub rail on my baby-Is there a product available to mix and match the gel coat so she looks good again?I feel bad that I've gotten so much good advice from you guys and haven't had any to offer myself-The gouge is about an inch long and maybe 1/32 to 1/16" deep-Thanx and enjoy the summer!!! I have used this before on a repair for my boat:

    http://www.evercoat.com/productDetail.aspx?pID=102

Basically you apply like a toothpaste. Clean/sand the area (use chemicals if u want). Put a small layer on as a first coat, let dry. Following day, put another layer on and let it dry. If you are above the gelcoat line by now you can sand and prep or paint and sticker etc. There is a plastic tool that you can use to smooth it down. But eventually when it hardens it shrinks again.

Me, I just filled the gash and left it..

Here is a photo back in 2006:

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a photo of it today. I did do the repair in summer 2007 and it hasn't cracked, hasn't chipped, hasn't even moved.

I believe it was about 4 inches long and obviously right down to fibreglass.

Right from the parts list. I am assuming that you scratched it in the colored area, they should abe able to get a color match for it. You may end up having to buy a bit larger quantity that you need though.

Minicraft seems like a good supplier, and was recommended to us by some former employees. I have yet to see their product, but they have the most thorough selection in what appears to be OEM finishes.

However, the original gelcoats Mariah used in the late 90's up until the end were manufactured by Lilly Industries.

If you try the minicraft route, let us know how it turns out!!!
