Default Going Shopping!

I am going tomorrow to look at a 1999 Z280. It only has 135 hours on it, according to the owner he didnt have time to use it. It has a 7.4L EFI with BIII. What do I look for when I get there? Anything in particular?

Look at everything you can possibly look at! Pay close attention to things like interior parts, and especially irreplaceables, like dashes, windsheilds, galley furniture and molding, and decorative parts. Canvas, vinyl, electronics, engine, outdrive, these things can always be repaired or replaced. Is it on a trailer, or is it stored in the water? If you can, take her for a test drive and see how the engine runs. Before you sign on the deal, it'd be worth it to have a marine surveyor look over the entire boat, as they can usually find many things. It'll probably cost at least a hundred dollars, but it'll be worth it in the long run. Also, feel free to take pics and post them up here for advice from us!!

looks nice! Check the engine mounts for corrosion, my 99 7.4 mounts are in need of some attention. Take her out for a good run and watch the temp gauge. Good luck.

Man, looks to be in great shape! I can't see anything that I'd be concerned about. But the test drive will be the real determining factor. Like aquaknot said, keep your eye on the temp gauge.

I noticed the OH registration, and the dealer sticker for Columbus OH, is that where the boat is located? If you don't mind, what's the seller's asking price?

I have a Z276 witch is the basically same boat. I wouldn't take any amount of money for it. I am on it every weekend. As for the survey I just had on done on my boat. you can expect to pay $10-$15 dollars a foot. I payed $12. It was worth it He found problems I did not know I had. Plus he explained things about my boat I didn't know. I wouldn't by another boat with one.

That's not a bad price at all! Especially in the condition it's in! Is the seller willing to let you test drive it, or are you just going to run it on muffs with a hose attached? I'd definitely insist on a water test drive before making any solid deals.

Don't feel threatened... I've got my eyes set on a Z308. Once I win the lottery.
