A boat is a money pit , and as I have heard many times , "If you work with it , or play with it , it's gonna cost ya" :(
Hang in there , once she is back in shape she'll be much easier to maintain Paul. :)

Ok- got the props off, didn't find any fishing line. Did see where it is leaking from, though. The rear seal. Lowered the motor back down and it started dripping out. The old seals didn't leak any, but since the boat sat up for quite a while, I decided it would be best. I'm thinking a bad install since it didn't leak before. Going to have a talk with the mechanic and see what they will do about it, if anything. Attachment 5377

Took some pics and went to the boat shop where I had the seals installed ( local tracker marine mercury dealer) and talk to the service man about my problem. He was real nice and wants me to bring the whole boat in so they can check it out. He said they were backed up with tons of other boats getting repairs, but would get mine in fast since it is a problem that they worked on. Taking it down there tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully they'll do the right thing and get it fixed without charging me for it, if it ends up being an error on their part

Re: bravo 3 new prop shaft seals leaking

Well, shop called the other day and told me what they found. The brass bushing that fits behind the back prop was worn out just enough that it slid back too far and bit into the seal lip when I tightened the prop down. As soon as I fired up the motor and put it in drive, the bushing snagged the seal and ripped it loose from its retainer mount. It was spinning with the shaft, sooo it's back at the shop waiting in a new seal to come in. I took the whole boat this time instead of just the drive so they can test it. Wish I would've done that the first time. Live and learn!
