Did a little more research and it appears that all the Alpha drives have the impeller in the lower unit like yours and mine.
All Bravo drives have the impeller pump running off either a belt or it is crank driven.

Learn something new everyday I guess :)

I just wanted to thank everyone for replying and for being so helpful. I am very glad that I heard about this site and became a member. It is really good to know that there is help available. I think I have purchased a pretty descent boat, but it has been setting for a couple of years and needs a lot of TLC. The good thing about it is, that it is all there and hasn't been cannibalized. Thanks again.
