    That's true, I never even thought about just testing the piezo....DUH!! I'm just confused as to what the empty spliced wires are in the first pic. Wonder if the previous owner spliced in a switch there, I just want to make sure I'm not missing some crucial control pack or something...

    I disconnected the piezo and connected it directly to a 12v source, and I heard the most faint, high pitch squeal. It was almost like a dog whistle. So I'm assuming my piezo has gone bad! Tack another replacement part onto the list!
