I just read that switchable exhausts are illegal in Minnesota. Maybe your boat spent some time in a place with similar laws. Just thought I'd mention it in case it helps you feel better about the PO. :)

Thanks Dredd! That would have made me feel better, but I know that this boat spent its entire life on a lift in a salt water canal in South Florida..:(:(

That's too bad. I love flipping that switch and letting the girl growl. :-D
Dot you wish people would just leave everything alone especially on a Mariah?

Sanuk I have a SHABAH Z 272 7.4 MFI WITH CAPTAINS CHOICE AND IT IS REALLY COOL WHEN YOU UNLOAD YOUR BOAT AND FIRE UP THE ENGINE AND HERE THE ROAR OF THE BIG V-8 AND THE HEADS DO TURN ( IT BRINGS THE KID OUT IN YOU ). IS NICE TO TO FLIP A SWITCH AND IT IS ALSO QUITE. GARY G

Yes, I totally agree! I mean, how could you do that to such a beautiful boat! We have been out with it several times now and everyone says, "open up that exhaust!" and all I can do is hang my head in shame!!! LOL

Now I am busting my ass trying to scrub up the $1,000 before Memorial Weekend.I don't want to dip into my bead money though....Gotta have tons of beads! LMAO!

I just realized after taking a newly instituted state boater certification class that Washington state has some laws in place for noise reduction too! Apparently there is a db level max of 78. It doesn't state you can not have over the hull, although it does say you need something to reduce noise to acceptable levels.

I don't mean to steal this thread, but I thought it was on topic.

Does anyone know what db levels we are getting with the over the hull opened up?

Who knows maybe I should sell you mine if Im gonna get a ticket for opening em up....
