Yeah, it does.

Okay, first off: It now looks like my initial impression, based on the fact that I tend not to believe in coincidences, might've been incorrect, and that the engine stalling, then not starting up, are apparently unrelated.

As to why the engine stalled: I've no idea. Insufficient information. As to what you're experiencing with the starter: You earlier wrote that you put a meter on it, turned the key, and no 12VDC showed up, right? So I'm guessing bad connection to the energizing terminal on the starter solenoid and your poking at it and/or the vibration from jumpering the thing "good" again. Note that I placed "good" in quotes. You need to check and fix that.

Looks like you know enough to be careful around that, as the thick cable goes directly to the battery, w/o passing "Go," and can supply enough current to weld things together, melt things, start fires... and never forget you're working around a gasoline-powered engine in an enclosed area. If ever you smell gasoline fumes stop what you're doing until you can establish their source and make the area safe again.

When was the last time that you replaced your fresh water pump impeller? I had my impeller break apart causing it to have trouble to turn over, worth a look at.

I have ran into the same problem with my boat where turning the key did nothing. turned out to be the neutral safety switch. Mine has 2 yellow and red stripped wires. I cut the wires and connected them together and the boat started. just a thought.

before you go cutting wires check your ignition switch with the key on to see if you have power. if there is no power then go to your neutral safety switch. if there is power there then go to your slave selinoid and make sure you have power there. I didn't have to go past that point so from there your own your own....

lol i guessed i should of looked at the date before posting....

Just my two cents now replace the starter the selenoid sticking its might be fine for awhile. But sooner or later this will happen again and the little shorting manuever may free it again and may not and depending on the lake and the amount of boats you could be rowing for awhile.
