Default Compression Check

I just got a call from the mechanic, he has done a compression check on my 7.4L MPI with 550 hrs on it. the readings varied from 100 to 110 psi. Should I be looking at a new power plant ? Can I get the season out of this one ?

It is low (normal is around 150 psi), but at least there's not a big split between any of them. That points to normal wear as opposed to specific damage. Sounds like it may be about rebuild time.

That seems like fairly low hours generally speaking for it to be worn out. Other than the low compression, are there any other problems with it? Does it run ok?

Runs fine, does'nt use any oil, I would'nt have known the compression was out if the shop had'nt told me.

    Hmmmm....

I wonder if the gauge the shop was using was accurate? If it were me, I'd get a second opinion, or check it yourself. Its not hard to do.
