The whole trip is about 10 miles, and apart from a bit of light editing the video is pretty much the complete crossing.
If I was to put an exact time to it I'd say that it was about 25min's dock to dock.
Taking into account the 6knot limits at both ends

On that day and in that slight chop, I would say I was running high 40's (MPH)
Still don't understand how my daughter can sleep through that!

Those 2 pictures were taken at Alum Bay.
It's at the western end of the Isle of White, next to the Needles.
Took them from my silly little paddling boat!

Hi Andy, Dragged the Mariah out of the corner of the boatyard, so here is a taster of what we found,
Did'nt take any photos of the inside or engine as it started to snow !! If this the state of the outdrive what will the engine be like ?????? Thanks for info on your photos very interesting, my Grandson always fell asleep when I started the engine and remained asleep even at 25 knots.

My first reaction was "Oh my dear God!"

But then a couple of years sat in salt water will do that to paint on the outdrive.....
It could just be cosmetic, but it's a real bargaining chip.
Tread carefully with this one, it's obviously been neglected.
There could be a bargain under there or a money trap!

You didn't happen to notice if the bung was out did you?
(hard to tell in that second picture) Was the boat heavy?

Hi Ron, seems all the brits are online tonight!

I've got a 218 down south and did a complete rebuild of the boat in 2008-2010, new engine and restoration of the hull etc. Mine is also running an SX drive, will see if I can post before and after pics. Don't worry about the surface finish until you have had a good look at it, the white colour is outdrive antifouling so get the loose stuff off. I tried evry finish of paint on mine, including the proper volvo stuff but the best I have found so far is Epoxy two pack. Check the oil in the outdrive is clean, if not change oil and the o rings on the fill and drain. Check there is no corrosion or deposits on the trim cylinder shiney portions. Do not operate the trim until these are clean otherwise you can damage the seals. Change the red oil (ATF) if it is cloudy. If it is still red, the system should be ok. Exercise the trim. If the drive oil is clean, it will probably be ok. Budget for a new set of anodes and don't like the look of your trim sensor! These tend to be quite unreliable on the volvos anyway

Regarding the engine, change the water pump impellor immediately, I would then treat her to some new oil and take the plugs out and spray some WD40 into the cylinders and leave them for a day or so. Try cranking with a fresh battery with the plugs out, it should turn over very easily. Put some new plugs in and start her up, but be prepared to retime. These engines are bombproof, they are very well built and should last forever if looked after. However, corrosion can be their worst enemy as most of the block is cast iron. If you don't know the history, budget to change the risers and manifolds. If these are in poor condition, cooling water can and will enter the cylinders and hydro-detonate which can cause broken rods, cranks etc.

Finally, get that plastic cover off asap. Boats have to breath and the pastic will sweat all the interior. A good canvas cover should be no more than GBP500 or less.

Just outside of Southampton, on the edge of the New Forrest.
I do most of my boating around the Solent but am willing to travel.
Although looking at the state of my garden at the moment I could quite happily do a few laps in the boat here!

How's the flooding up your way?
