Congradations and welcome. I think the great majority of Mariah's have those dividers on the sides of the engine, many incorporate a top piece as well for a storage area above the engine. I wouldn't worry about heat of the block since the engine cooling system is designed to keep it cool without the benefit of air for cooling. Mine is convenient to store a play tube on one side and a good spot to mount an amplifier and the sub on the other side without worrying about them coming into contact with the engine. You want to pay attention to what to wrap the inside of the panels with, the outside is carpeted but the inside has some heat resistant looking material, likely flame resistant.
