    hi Mart

I dont think you will find anyone here on this site (we are Mariah enthusiasts!) that will tell you to stay away from a well maintained original Mariah.

Mechanical & electrical parts for the original Mariah's are still available and we have a complete listing of parts vendors here. We also have original manuals for the Volvo available to contributing members. Where you may run into a problem is locating original interior trim pieces, consoles and the curved windshield glass if you have to replace them. Most of us take the time to repair/refinish what we have. I would make sure that the seating is in good condition, the electrics all work properly (particularly the trim/tilt), check the bellows on the outdrive for splits/cracks, find out when it was last serviced & what was done, see what maintenance records are available & take it for a test run on the water to ensure she performs as advertised.

The '98 brochure indicates the boat weighs approx 3175lbs dry, has a 60 gal fuel tank and comes with either a 4.3 (46-51mph) or 350 mag (53-57mph).

What more specs do you want? Mikey laid it out pretty nicely for you.

Not sure where you are sourcing your other 'results' from but this is the only place you can be sure to get accurate ones. As Dredd noted, what other 'specs' are you looking for?

"The draught is 1000"?? 1000 what?? 35mph top end?? Something is wrong or the seller has no clue.

The 'draft' is 36" with the drive down & 19" with the drive up. That boat should run between 45 - 47mph at top end with the 4.3 depending on how she is propped. That 4.3L should run at close to 4800rpms at WOT for ideal performance. Performance will be slightly lower with a full tank of fuel and a full complement of people on board (max is 10) but it should not be down around 35mph. This boat needs a water test and you should have someone knowledgeable with you when you go out.

The boat will handle 'donuts' just as well as a cop can, again provided it is propped correctly. Same thing for wakeboarding and it should be a comfortable day cruiser with the cuddy.

You might also want to take along a gps for accurate speed reading The speedometer may not be readinfg accurately, when you go for a test drive.
