Default Barchetta Z272 Engine

Recently, I purchased a 1994 Barchetta Z272 and have a question regarding the size of the engine. The previous owner stated the boat had a 7.4 L engine; the spark arrestor indicating the engine serial number confirms that the engine is indeed a 7.4 L. However, when I had the boat winterized last year the mechanic informed me that the engine was not a 7.4, but a 5.7 L. This year when I winterized the boat a different mechanic said the engine is a 7.4 L! I have looked for a tag on the engine block with the serial number, and other places but found nothing.

Can anyone answer my question about the engine size for this year and model of boat?

Are you sure it's a '94? The brochure doesn't show that model in 1994. There is a Z272 Barchetta in 1995. Check the last 2 digits of your hull id#. They will match the model year. As for motors, that boat came with your choice of a 5.7L, a 7.4L or the 454MAG. If you send your Hull id# via PM to ShabahZ250 he might be able to tell you what motor came with the boat when it was built. There's no guarantee though what you have is the original motor. Finding the serial number would be a big help.

Engine Serial Number: The serial number tag is located near the starter by the flywheel housing or on the rocker arm or on the flame arrestor cover.

Once you have the serial number you can reference it against this chart or this chart to determine what motor you have.
