Default new guy in town

hi to all. I purchased my mariah this year. we absolutly love it. one thing that was a little surprise that i hope someone can help me with is that the engine has a bulb i must sqeeze in order to start it. this has become a real problem beacuse it looses its prime while out on the lake. We can stop on the lake for a few minutes and it will have to be pumped again in order to start and go. other times it falls on its face and dies under load so then we pump it again and al is good. any ideas on what i should do? thanks - miked

Hi Miked, can you provide us with a little more detail, like what type of motor you have (With a bulb, it sounds like you have an outboard instead of an I/O), who makes it and what year is it.

I think that may be your answer. the fuel pump went out and whoever owned it before put a bulb on it so it would siphon as you drove it. works for lawn mowers.............not for boats. I may be way off base hear but I would check your fuel pump and see if it works.
