Talking New Owner

I am thrilled to find this web site. I purchased (yesterday) a Miriah from a lady who bought it new. It is a 1997 198 Shabah that is in good shape. The lady just had it at the shop and left it there too long. During its stay someone thought they needed the radio more then she did. So I was wondering if anyone can give me a little information. The radio that was in the boat was a Jensen XXC 7220 AM/FM . (does anyone need a owners manual) It is gone (everything except the faceplate) so I will just replace it with a different brand. The problem is that when it was stolen the housing was broken. Are they available anywhere?
Second question is that I would like to purchase or at least download a Mariah owners manual for this boat. I would like to know the specs. I got all of the Merc cruiser books (5.7EFI) and info from her, but no Mariah book.
The third question I have is that the new radio I will put in will be CD and the boat has a tape storage unit. Were any of the later boat made with disc holders instead if tape storage (6 tapes)
Thanks for any help
Kirk

Welcome to the board, and congrats on your new purchase!

For the radio, any similarly sized replacement will work. I'd recommend picking up one with an Aux In jack, it makes connecting an ipod or MP3 player much easier. Most radios come equipped with one these days. I believe the housings are somewhat universal, West Marine carries quite a few, take a look Here for all the stereo acccesories!

There was a posting a while back about replacing the cassette holder with a CD holder, search the forum, you'll find an answer to almost any question you'll ever have!

We have copies of the manuals, brochures, wiring diagrams, and all kinds of stuff on the site here, click the "Donate" button for more info.
