Default Newb from TN

I'm the happy new owner of a 1999 Shabah 202! I am fairly new to the boating world, growing up my family has always had a ski boat and I've driven some, but this is my first time owning one. I've spent the last few years pretty big into car stuff, newer muscle cars, anything with a motor, although I'm not too familiar with carb'd stuff, I've always messed with EFI setups.

I just brought this boat home Sunday. It needs some TLC, I've been cleaning, polishing, conditioning every night after work and still not finished yet! The rear seat bottom will need to be recovered. Little things. I'm not crazy about the side graphics, I'm thinking they'll come off and I'll put something more simple in it's place. I love the Mariah logo and lettering!

I'm going to take it out one time maybe Sunday and run it for a while, then next week go ahead and winterize it and continue to clean it up.

Your graphics are Original Mariah Sport graphics called Indy graphics. I like them but, I may be biased. To each their own. Good looking Mariah.

Thank you for the info, I wasn't sure if they were original!

Congratulations on your new boat! I also own a 99 Shabah, but 5.0L. That's a good looking boat, I'm sure you will be very happy with her. If you don't like the graphics you have now, there is an aftermarket decal dealer that has some patterns similar to original Mariah graphics. Look at my boat pic if you want an example of one of their decal designs. If you haven't already pay to be a member of this site so you can get access to members section. Have fun!!!

Educate me, what all is available for paid memberships? Also where can I find the dealer that does those Mariah graphics?

Thanks, I ran it for a couple hours this past weekend, other than having to jump start a dead battery it really seems to run well. With a whale tail (I know I know - thinking about ditching it - I've been reading about the smart tabs) and a 4 blade prop, it topped out around 52 MPH on the speedo (not GPS verified) I'm very happy with it.

I have a few small issues to get sorted out, a little slop in the steering, squeaky belt, little things, but I'm going to get it winterized soon. I hate to put it up for the winter so soon after getting it!

Membership gets you access to the manuals, promo materials, factory tour movie, advertising slicks and lots of other interesting stuff. The movie is worth $10 alone. Yes ditch the whale tale piece of junk. Do some reading on here about the smart tabs, way better option that actually works. Many of us with 202's have been very happy with them. I run about 47 with mine (lost approximately 2 mph) but I plane out much faster and slower than without them. The place with the similar graphics is here: http://www.racelinedigital.com/store...961a56c00964ab

I also got the Mariah script from them as well.
eBay will have the shields for the seats or hull if needed.

Beauty! Thru hull exhaust! Yessir ditch the whale and install smart tabs when your ready. You'll notice a world of difference.
4 blade prop, what pitch and what was the rpm at? Seems like she might be right where you want it if she'll push over 50.

The exhaust is absolutely one of my favorite features on the boat!

I found out my current prop is a 19 pitch 4 blade piece. I do enjoy the way it handles now so I decided to stick with those specs but going with a new stainless one.

I also got the windows tinted and removed the graphics, in my opinion it looks so much cleaner and sexy. Loving it! It's in to get winterized now.

After a light buff and some polish, the finish on this boat is finally coming to life. It looks much better without the graphics in my opinion! Clean and classy.

I plan on getting a nice wax job done in the spring as well.

What percentage tint did you go with if you don't mind me asking. I'm debating if I should go with 20 or 30 percent. I'm sure there's not a tremendous difference in darkness. I don't want to go to dark because I might use the windshield from time to time at night. Awesome boat by the way. Looks very elegant without the decals. Nice!
