Hello, I'm two years in new to boating. Absolutely love my Mariah. I decided to try boating as a way to spend more quality time with my family. We joined a boat club, in hoping we could learn from some of the veteran boaters.They are all very helpful. When we went looking for a used boat, our soon to be Mariah stood out over all other boats. The quality and workmanship was noticeable compared to others. We have enjoyed each day on the Ohio river with her. I hope I can share useful information with others here as my experience grows. I also would like to ask any of the other members of this forum for a bit of knowledge if I could. I changed the fuel filter/ water separator on the 5.0 carb engine and now it will not idle. I am really stumped. Any suggestions what to look for would be truly appreciated. Thank You

Did you install it in the right direction?

Scott , was there an issue with performance or did you just change filter for maintenance ? There is another filter on the 5.0 that is located where the main fuel line enters the carb , there is a 5/8 inch nut on the line leading into a 1 inch coupler and the filter is inside that housing . I have seen that filter almost plugged at times. Check that one and let me know.

Thanks tor the reply. Filter change was for maintenance. Pulled the spark plugs today. They all were black. A fellow I talk to today seems to think I might have air trapped inline.He gave some advise on how to burp the system. Another thinks I need to install new spark plugs. Going to give both a whirl.
Filter at the carb was clean. Was careful of filter direction. Let you know the outcome.
