Default Owner from Germany says hello!

Hello folks,

I am from Bavaria/Germany and I own a 1995 Z215 Davanti with a Volvo Penta 5.0Fi/DP since last year. Operating hours about 350. It’s my 2nd boat after a 1988 Sea Ray 180 Seville with a 4.3L Mercruiser which I owned for 3 years. Guess I did a big deal.

The Mariah is in a very good shape in spite of age and operating hours. The color is white/purple. Because I live in a region without any potential boating area nearby, it rests on a trailer most of the year. My favorite boating area is the Croatian coast in the Mediterranean Sea where my family and I spend our holidays for 3 weeks.

I bought the boat from a dealer at the Rhine River. So the previous owner used it mainly in fresh water, but I think also in salt water like I do now, too. That’s why I have some troubles with the electrical wiring.
Although most of the wires and connections look fine I have serious problems. I really don't want to offend anyone, but the cable routing in boats, also of a Mariah in these years of manufacturing, is a mess…especially if you don’t have documentation.

That’s why I “googled” the web to find useful information/documentation about Mariah boats and the electrical wiring in particular… and so I found the Mariah Owners Club.
I hope someone can give me the information I need or I can find it in the available manuals provided by the Club. I will post my request in the bulletin board soon, but sure not in this introduction section of the board.

Greetings from Bavaria,
Juergen

Are there already any owners from Germany in that forum?

Welcome to the board scotty65! I believe we have a few other German owners, if you click the "Member Map", you can locate them.

As for the manuals and things you may need, like wiring diagrams, we have them online, click the "Donate" button for more info.

If you've got any questions, feel free to ask. That's what we're all here for, to help each other out! Enjoy the site!

Welcome aboard Juergen! We have one other member that i know of who is located in Germany. Mariah2350cz (Jan) lives in the Rheinland-Pfalz (Stadecken-Elsheim) region and i believe does most of his boating on the Rhein. I'm sure he would be happy to hear from another Mariah owner in your part of the world though so you could look him up on our Member list and send him a PM to introduce yourself.

I've been to the Bonn - Cologne region a couple of times and spent one day in Munchen during Oktoberfest so i dont know your area really well but what about the Bodensee or the Brombachsee for boating?

As for the wiring issues, perhaps a previous owner has been attempting some changes in the wiring which may account for it being a bit of a mess? Mine was very neatly bound with each connection labeled as to what it was for. ShabahZ250 has given you the link though to become a contributing member & obtain access to our manuals, diagrams etc which i think you will find very worthwhile.

    Default Thank you!

Chris, Mike, thank you very much for the warm welcome. Before I become a contributing member I want to post my request first. Manuals and diagrams are one thing but in most cases you also need assistance and advice from an expert.

Mike you are right, the Bodensee is an option for boating. Unfortunately it is too far away from my location and I don’t want to spend my holidays there, although it’s a very nice region, not only for boating. Furthermore you and your boat need a special permit for boating there, which is only temporary.
And yes, the previous owner did some changes. Fish finder, trim tabs, a new CD car radio and SR radio equipment. I’m afraid, in doing so cable routing becomes a little bit unclear. Just behind the fuse panel and under the dashboard ,where a lot of – all – wires merge, it looks awful.
