Default Docking lights question/ 2000 shabah 212 br

Hello all.. im a new owner i have a 2000 shabah 212 br 21ft with the volvo penta. Love the boat love the quality.
I have been making a few upgrades. New stereo, speakers, new led pocket lights etc.
Im in the process of installing led docking lights on the hull. And when i started the project i knew there were two acc switches on the dash. My thought was to connect one of those switches to the new docking lights. When i looked into the anchor locker i realized that the wires for docking lights were already in place. Then when i looked under the dash it looks like there are already wires connected to those two acc switches. But unfortunately when i switched them on i did not get power to the docking light wires. ..
So my question now is where are the other ends of the docking light wires that are in the anchor bay.. ? I looked in my binder and found several sketch wire diagrams. But nothing with detail enough for me to know what to do to get those wires to that rocker switch. They are a blue and black 12 wire. But a lot of the wires are blue.
Anyone know more about this to help educate me.
Thank you in advance.
Michael

Welcome to the MOC Michaelcoy, and congrats on your "new" Shabah 212!

The blue & black wires you've found are indeed, the power wires. Blue is the positive (12v) and black is the ground. The "Blu + GND + 12" indicated on the wiring diagram for the docking lights means it should be 12 gauge wire (a slight bit thicker than the standard). If there's terminated ends or fittings on those wires for the dock lights (or any sort of labeling), then you've found the correct hookups. However if there's no ends marked, or no hookup fittings then you've found what's considered the "courtesy light" circuit, which is used to power the courtesy lamps throughout the bow.

The easiest way to find how they're hooked up is by using a circuit tester bulb like this.

Put the pointed end in the blue fitting, and connect the alligator clip to the black wire fitting. Then head up to the dash and start flipping everything until you see the tester light up. If you test everything and nothing lights up, then let us know and we'll try and walk you through the next steps...

Thanks i will try that.. yes i have found several locations to the courtesy lights circuit and i can get power there when i flip in that switch. The two set of wires for the docking lights they do have the little blade connectors crimped on the ends. I am getting the ground through the black wires and but no power in the blue wires no matter what switch is turned on.. i have continuity between them on either side . And i tried to find where it comes out of the plastic tubing under the dash but i get lost there so hopefully the test lamp will help that.. to test the lights and rig it up for the past weekend. I ended up running a new hot wire up to the front. Hook it to a fuse bank, put a fuse in the empty space and connected a toggle switch under the dash. Then i hooked that hot wire to the positive side of the lights and hooked the existing ground wire up to the negative.. man they worked great.. now just want to finish the job and get the switch on the dash board to operate them.. .
    Thank you
