Question Cleaning prop with muriatic acid ???

I asked one of the guys at the marina if I could use this stuff on my stainless steel prop and they said yes. At some point I must have had one of the famous CRS moments that seem to be prevalent with some of the old timers on here and I forgot to lift outdrive after putting on boat lift so it sat in water quite a while and got a heavy coat of the white crud.

The part I am worried about is trying to clean the inside where the exhaust flows. I can probably get a small brush down there but am a little worried about getting any on the rubber spin hub (maybe that's not what it's called but that's better than "whatchamacallit"). I know this acid is safe for plastic but not sure about rubber. Thought about pouring some of the acid through the exhaust ports on the prop instead of the brush.

Every time I read instructions on this acid I get more worried about using it. I am pretty clutzy at times and always seem to get stuff on me. Guess I need to get a fully enclosed rubber suit!!!

take em off and take them to a metal stripper. They have lite acid baths that will remove crud, but not hurt the metal.

There is a write up on here about the acid. It won't hurt a stainless prop. After one or two outings mine gets hazed. I brush on some acid and rinse it off just. Its literally that easy. Don't do it over concrete. Or take the prop off and acid brush it in a bucket or something. Like a 99¢ soft paint brush type brush.
