Hey gents, I am as of 5-13-13 a new Mariah owner, its a 1996 Talari 225 (it has Z 225 decals on the boat but I am unsure if it is actually a Z, but that's for another thread lol). My question is, my factory depth gauge is reading 0 at all times, does anyone know where the factory transducer is mounted and or what kind of transducer it is? Any known common problems that I might try to troubleshoot first? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Its usually a thru hull transducer and its mounted under the front part of the engine. Most of the time the problem you mention is simply due to the transducer coming unglued from its mounting position. Best of luck with the contortions required to access it though. ;)

If the transducer if fitted into a ring and the ring is bonded to the inside of the hull then you may have an oil bath transducer like I have on mine.
Mine did just what yours is doing until I filled it with oil. now it works great
