Default Your Boat Name and what does it mean?

During some slow time lets have something to talk about, maybe it has been done before and I did not find it in a search. But anyway I will start one and add where are you from and what do you do?

My boat as soon as the temps rise will be lettered "The Mistress" So I can tell the Wife that I will be spending time with The Mistress! She is already jealous of her so she deserves a name to go with her jealousy ...LoL

My name is Mike and I am from Maryland upper Chesapeake bay area and I am a carpenter.

My boys want to name our boat "Wet Dreams". Probably has something to do with those teenage years.

My wife isn't too thrilled with the idea.

LOL mikeyt! I can't tell you how many cigarette boats I've seen named that.

My boat is unnamed, but everyone refers to it as "shabah", so I may decide to name her that. Not only because it's the model name, but because of it's translation "the night ghost". I've also been calling myself "shabah" on the VHF when hailing marinas, because it's annoying to say "the 25 foot white boat with the gold trim and checkered flag calling Seaway Marina for an overnight transient slip"

If you guys do decide to name or even rename, be sure and follow the ritual for good luck. I know it sounds funny, but I've helped many of my sailing buddies perform the ceremonies. Neptune's not one to piss off, especially on the Great Lakes, and even worse, the oceans....

Mine was named "Irish Song" by the original owner but i removed that name after downing a slug of the demon rum just to appease the water gods and the sea creature from Pirates of the Caribbean.

Our Z275 was named "Playmate" by the original owner. We have thought about renaming her "Playin' Hard" but I do not want to cast any bad luck on our boat by renaming her!

We live in Ocala, Florida and I am a Commercial Builder, Real Estate Broker, Stainless TIG welder, and dog house builder! Another words, anything that will pay the bills!!

Our Z280 was named by the original owner Czech-n-Mate but since I am 1/2 Czech I decided to keep the name. Didn't want to upset the water gods by renaming the vessel...supposed to be bad luck.

My name is Steve , I am from Rockland County, NY near the Tappan Zee Bridge and I'm an Electrical Engineer.

Nice Z280 Steve! She is beautiful. I agree with ya' on the renaming. There is actually a procedure to rename a boat (as ShabahZ250 pointed out) and it won't cause bad luck if you follow it but I don't trust it! I need all the good luck I can get!

It does work! It's been ritual for years! Had a sailor buddy who botched up one thing with the procedure by leaving one small scrap of paper with the old vessel name onboard, (which we didn't find until mid-season) and ended up having one of the worst seasons ever, cursed with horrible storms and countless boat problems, he ended up selling, and bought a brand new unnamed 33 footer, and will be performing the renaming ritual when she dunks her keel in the spring. As superstitious as it sounds, everyone in the sailing world follow these maritime traditions religiously! I figure they've gotta know something since they rely on both the wind and the water! About 75% of the powerboaters at my marina have done it too.... Maybe it's a Great Lakes thing?

BTW, My name's Chris from Cincinnati Ohio and I'm a educational media developer for one of southwest ohio's largest hospitals. I also run a media production business and a vinyl decal business in my spare time too. like csterner says, anything that'll help pay the bills!

Winters Escape - My last name is Winters so we used the opportunity to play on the season's name.
I had the registration numbers made at the same time so it all matches one of the interior colors.

I'm a software UI designer at a paperless software company in Kansas City.

It has been nice to meet all of you and hear some boat names. When I was shopping for a boat and I did not like the name I moved on!!! Me and my step father re-named a boat once and not by choice (the previous owner wanted the name off as it was the name of his charter business) and that was one rough year. The next year was fine after we chased all the gremlins away and the fishing got better as well!!!!
