Christmas gifts ...
Just wondering who received boating parts / accesories as christmas gifts as well....
I received 2 smaller sized fenders for the stern cleats, so that "hopefully" they dont drag in the water when attached like my current ones do. Downside is, it will be at least 5 more months before they touch water.
Second item was a new replacement all-round white light. Downside about the return policy is, its 30 days and again ... will be 5 months before the boat is back on water to test it out.
I dont really want to return it and rebuy it in 5months just to make sure it works/fits etc. Im sure it will though.
soooooo ... post away on any of your christmas gifts you received

hmm... lets see now. A bottle of 18yr old Macallan single malt scotch, a new winter coat (so that i didn't look like my father ), a couple of DVD's, a couple of books, socks, a decent sweater, some Belgian dark chocolate (yummm), a couple of bottles of Stella Artois c/w matching glasses, Tim Hortons gift certificates, LCBO (liquor store to all those outside of Canada) gift certificates, and an oversized American Express bill..

Boating related:
$25 West Marine gift card
Quick & Easy Boat Maintenance book
Onboard Emergency Handbook
"Along the Ohio River" and "Ohio River Images" historical books
and a collector's set of Bacardi Select Rum
Other than that, a few gift cards for gas, groceries, and clothes.... Overall, not too bad!
I guess Santa couldn't get those Lenco Trim Tabs down my chimney.

We got a rain check from Santa for items we will need this spring, such as a VHF radio.
We have just joined the Coast Guard Auxilliary and there's a list of items required on our boat if we are to use it in the CGA capacity. It's an interesting group of people in all age groups. They patrol the lakes and rivers and assist stranded boaters, among other things.
Two of the events this fotilla assists with are the Regatta in Madison, IN and the Thunder over Louisville fireworks, both on the Ohio river. The auxilliary boats are used to keep the boaters safely out of the way. This translates to a front row seat for us at both events. Not bad!
Plus, the Coast Guard pays our travel expenses.
The auxilliary offers boating courses that we are required to complete, lessons in know tying, CPR, etc.
More chances to show off our Barchetta Z!
