Default Boating Concerts?

Tonight's the annual Jimmy Buffett concert here in Cincinnati, an insane gathering of "Parrotheads" at the Riverbend Music Center. Like the name implies, it's a concert venue on a bend of the Ohio river, and people begin rafting up behind the place early, and the party goes late. I'd guess around 100+ boats ranging anywhere from 18' bowriders to 60' houseboats. Alcohol flows like water down there, no matter where you can go, someone's always got margaritas and beer. Usually plenty of swimming, flashing, and general partying going on. I'm going to play it smart and only have one beer. Someone's gotta drive back!

Anyone else have any kind of concerts or gatherings on the water like this?

ps-i'm taking my camera too...

wooo hoooo ... T&A boating pics!

Actually, minus the T&A shots, I would just be interested to see photos of the raft and all the people and the size of some of the boats. I have never been a part of any rafting ever.

Well, we did have a floating raft that we played on when we were kids... lol.

sounds like a lot of gun Chris! Should definetely be a good concert. Over here in Washington you could float on the columbia and listen to a concert from the Gorge ampitheater. We used to go out for the 4th on lake union but its just been insanely packed over the years. Stopped going after my uncle had a hole punched through the side of his boat by some drunk idiot. That was our last raft up event.

Have fun! I'm expecting to see some good T&A shots from the concert, haha.

There's the annual "Pottahawk Point Piss-up" down on Long Point in Lake Erie which i think happens the 3rd weekend in July. I haven't been there in years for the same reason MariahMan avoids the one on the Columbia. The last numbers i heard were approx 1000 boats, music & booze everywhere along with 4-5 police boats patrolling the area to try & control things. 'twas a good time (what i can remember of it) when it wasn't my boat i had to worry about

Well, don't know how much T&A I can get from a distance (but I do have digital zoom...hmm). I don't want to be right in the middle of all the drunk nutcases. I like to keep my distance, and leave somewhat early to get back on the trailer before they get close to me.

The big events on the water around us are the Buffett Concert, and the WEBN Labor Day fireworks. And without a doubt, the BEST time to be sober driving, as everyone else on their boats are usually trashed... The river can be pretty dangerous at times due to the amount of idiots racing by in their speedboats, heavy barge traffic, limited navigational aids, and bad visibility once the sun goes down. They just had an accident on the river the other night, some drunk was going 70mph and blew out his trim tab hydraulics, threw all 4 passengers out, and capsized the boat. (see attachments)

So I'll be careful, and try to bring back some good pics for everyone, even if they are only of boats

Put a little review in the "Trips & Travel Log" section.

BTW, saw 4 Mariahs out there besides me... Unfortunately I was too far away to catch 'em and spread the word!
