Winch & strap lb rating?

I am starting to look around at replacing my winch and strap. I have an original Prestige trailer for my 2000 244 Jubilee. I am assuming that the current winch on my trailer is original. It indicates that it is rated for 2800 lbs. My boat weighs considerably more than that, 4,700 lbs dry. I know that the weight rating for the winch does not indicate that it can lift the actual boat. All it needs to do, is to pull it up on the trailer. Currently when I retrieve my boat, I hardly winch it up at all. Usually I am able to drive it right on. But when I do winch it, the winch and strap sounds like it is under considerable strain, so much so that I actually am afraid that it is going to break. And yes, I have replaced my strap a couple of times. So, do I need a bigger winch? Or should a 2800 lb winch be ok? I've done a good bit of googling for this already, and I have yet to find a boat weight to winch rating weight ratio.

Thanks, Dave
