A Couple Trailer Light Issues

Hi There,

Our new-to-us boat came with a nice trailer, but it does have a couple issues with its lights.

The wire for one of the amber side lights

is broken off. The light appears to be riveted on.

How does one get that puppy apart?

The left-rear turn/stop light

is quite a bit dimmer than its right-hand counterpart, and I noticed the other day it had condensation inside. I imagine that means replacement is called-for. Same question: How do I get it apart to remove it?

(Geez, that trailer has quite a bit more rust than I realized. The camera doesn't hide anything, eh?)

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks, WW.

I figured the lens had to come off that small amber one, somehow. Those are the ends of pop rivets in that 2nd picture. That 2nd picture is mis-leading. That isn't a screw/bolt with nut, it's just a nub with a very small bit of wire sticking out. There's not enough there for me to save the connection.

Do you know where I can go for replacements for these, should I destroy them in the process of attempting to save them?

Thanks,
Jim

Yeouch! that is one sad looking piece of wire ! :eek_animated:

The amber side light should pop out of the chrome surround. Gently flex the two end tabs (Top and bottom on your picture) outward and the amber part should come out.

Anyway, check-out our "Trailer Parts and Accessories locator list" sticky at the top of this forum, in it, you'll find a link to Champion Trailer supply, they carry an LED replacement for the tail lights and they carry your side marker lights too.
